New Ryanair routes from Glasgow to holiday destinations in southern Europe in winter 2016
The recently released winter schedule of Ryanair in Glasgow airports contemplates several leisure destinations in sunny Spain and Portugal. As it is already a tradition, the launching of the winter schedule was celebrated with a promotional sale of 100 000 seats, available for online bookings.
Glasgow International (GLA) – new Ryanair routes in the winter schedule
The new additions to Ryanair’s schedule at the main Glasgow airport will connect Scotland even better than until now to southern Spain. From late October/early November the carrier will offer direct routes to:
- Alicante (3 weekly flights)
- Malaga (4 weekly flights)
- Gran Canaria (1 weekly flight)
- Lanzarote (2 weekly flights)
New services will complement Ryanair’s current offer at Glasgow Intl which includes services to Berlin Schonefeld, Bydgoszcz, Carcassonne, Chania, Derry, Dublin, London-Stansted, Riga, Warsaw-Modlin and Wroclaw.
Ryanair at Glasgow Prestwick (PIK) – all year round flights to Faro, Malta and Barcelona
Sunny destinations are also the carrier’s bet at Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Popular routes to Faro (Algarve, Portugal), Barcelona and Malta will remain operational also in the winter. Ryanair flies from Prestwick also to Alicante, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Malaga, Tenerife South and seasonally, also to Corfu, Ibiza, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Pisa, Reus and Rome Ciampino.
Ryanair’s growth in Glasgow
The low-cost giant has been consequently strengthening its position in Glasgow. It is predicted that the new routes in the winter schedule will boost the passenger numbers to 1.200 000 at Glasgow International Airport (an increase of 200 000) and 680 000 at Glasgow Prestwick (additional 75 000 passengers).
Ryanair’s operations at Glasgow airports generate 1.400 jobs (900 at GLA and 600 at PIK).
