New Norwegian domestic routes in Spain - cheap flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura
The low-cost airline Norwegian announced new domestic routes from mainland Spain to the Canary Islands. Starting 25 October 2015, the carrier will offers flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura from its hubs in Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga Airports.
Combine flights to Spain and the Canary Islands
In total seven new routes to the Canaries will be launched in Norwegian’s winter schedule in Spain.
It is expected that the new connections will attract many travellers from Northern Europe, also from the UK, who will ow have available more flight combination options for a holiday in Spain with a detour in the Canary Islands or vice versa. Madrid and Barcelona are amongst Europe’s most popular city-breaks, while Malaga on Costa del Sol and the Canaries are sought after beach destinations, with a reliable weather all year round. Since the Canary Islands are already connected to UK, also via Norwegian, it will be now possible to plan an even more exciting route of the Spain holiday.
According to Norwegian’s CEO Bjørn Kjos, the extended network of domestic flights will help to improve the connectivity between the mainland and the Spanish islands and to create new travel options.
The addition to Norwegian’s network is an evidence of the airline’s commitment to the Spanish market, where, per mid-2015, Norwegian operates 133 routes between 15 Spanish airports. One fifth of the carrier’s fleet is based in Spain and the number of locally employed rounds 900.
Norwegian will surely face competition from other low-cost airlines on the routes to the Canary Islands. Modern aircrafts, however, as well as free Wi-Fi, which Norwegian will offer on board, as the first airline ever, together with the comprehensive network of routes is expected to win the public.
