Avis car rental US introduces Maserati Ghibli at selected rental stations

With a length of nearly 5 meters, the Maserati Ghibli is an executive sports car with ambitions to compete with the top range of BMW 5-series and the most powerful of the Audi A6 range.

With Audi and BMW still using large engines above 4 liter, the small Maserati 3.0 unit is supposed to be more economical. If you use the twin-turbo and 325 bhp (345 horses in the US), economy will not be much better than that of the Germans, but it is not really the point either.

The Maserati Ghibli is meant as a gentleman's express for those who want to show a touch more style. And it works well - most of all because everybody in this class either drive a Jaguar or one of the Germans mentioned above.

The new Maserati Ghibli was introduced late in year 2013, but has not yet showed its full potential. Especially on the European market for cars, the Maserati is lagging slightly behind expectations. In the US and in China however, the two most important markets for Maserati, sales in 2014 of the Maserati Ghibli have been excellent.
