Cracow, Poland is new destination from Kiev with Ukraine International Airlines

The John Paul II airport in Krakow (Cracow in English and Kraków in Polish) has added a new direct connection, this time from Eastern Europe. The Ukrainian state company, Ukraine International Airlines, has begun direct flights to Krakow-Balice – KRK from Kiev-Boryspil airport.

Flights on the route Kiev-Krakow will take place on a daily basis (7 times per week). Ukraine International Airlines – UIA has a codeshare agreemment with carrier Dniproavia.

The Kiev-Cracow connection service takes place with a Brazilian built Embraer 145 turbofan-jet airplane, which has a capacity of 45-48 passengers.

A 1h45m connection is available in the evening time. The plane departs from Boryspil airport at 20.40, local time and arrives to Krakow at 21.25 hours taking advantage of the 1 hour time difference between Ukraine and Poland.

On the return, flights take place in the morning. Departure from Balice is at 05.30 hours with arrival to Boryspil at 8.10 am.

The Kiev-Krakow route from Ukraine International Airlines does not have any direct competition with any other carrier. In the past, it was served by Aerosvit Airlines, but this was suspended in November 2011.

The connection to Krakow joins the Kiev-Warsaw route which was recently started by the Ukrainian carrier.

Although Krakow is the undisputable tourist capital of Poland, the new route from Ukraine Airlines is mainly put in service for business tourists as well as for students of Krakow universities.

Krakow, the center of the Małopolska region is the third most popular Polish city for Ukrainian investors. In 2016, Krakow was visited by over 110,000 tourists from Ukraine. Over 5,000 young Ukrainian students have enrolled at Krakow universities.

The Krakow-Balice airport is the second largest airport in Poland in terms of the number of passengers served offering connections to 23 countries with 89 routes in winter season.

Since 1993, Kiev in Ukraine has been the twin city of Krakow, Poland.

It is worth noting that Kiev is the equivalent of the Polish city Poznan in terms of industry and business fairs.
