Cheap car hire in Porto Airport – special offers for BMW available with Sixt, Drive Rent-A-Car and Dollar

It is not unusual to find good offers for car rental in Portugal, but in most cases, the best offers are on the smallest and cheapest vehicles.

Cheap car hire in Porto Airport – nice cars available for small money
In February 2018, a number of car hire companies in Porto Airport offered BMW 3-series cars at very interesting rates.

This model is not new anymore, but the BMW 3-series is still amongst best in class

If you are able to book in advance, a BMW 3-series is available for a week’s car rental from Porto Airport from less than 180 euro per week (prices seen in February).

The cheapest prestige cars were at Guerin. This company offered Audi A4 cars from less than €160/week).

Cheapest BMW cars were at €177/week from local supplier Drive Rent-A-Car.  It is worth noting that the excess on these normally not so cheap rental cars can be pretty steep. On the BMW 3-series Drive-offer in Porto Airport, you needed a credit card with at least €3700 available to be blocked; free kilometre and insurance included. Cross border travel to Spain was permitted.

A brand new model BMW 3-series will be introduced in 2019.

The competitive offers seem to be a result of aggressive pricing from newcomer Star Rent-A-Car in Portugal. This company only offers Mercedes and Smart cars and, sometimes, it is possible to rent a Merc for about the same money as a ‘boring’ Renault Megane or similar compact class of car.

Cheapest car in Porto Airport    
For the absolutely cheapest cars in Porto Airport, look no further than Centauro.

This Spanish company has entered Portugals largest airports with super-cheap cars. A Fiat 500 can be had for less than €10 per week when booking in February.

There is a catch, however. The fuel fee, which you cannot avoid, is €25. Also, Centauro takes you on a shuttle bus to collect your car, so plan for more time for pickup and dropoff.
